Every now and then the Restore option for (any) maximized WLM window is grayed out. In order to restore WLM windows I must execute a System Restore. Whey does this happen, and how can I prevent it? Is there another way out aside from System Restore?

I have repeatedly encountered the distressing phenomenon whereby a WLM draft that I’ve saved refuses to open. The error message is “A problem has occurred. Please try again.” Trying again (many times, over an extended period) does no good. Why is this
happening, and is there any way to get these messages to open? Or is there a way to prevent the error?

I have WLM 2011 and Windows 7. I use IMAP with my business email.  I have been using this for 1.5 years. In the last few days messages have been disappearing from only this account, not my other email accounts with Earthlink. Nearly all of my sent messages
have disappeared and each morning I look at my inbox and most of the messages have disappeared, but not all.

I get my email on my phone and the IMAP setting say to not delete from the server. My WLM settings say not to delete, show all messages, etc.

I have not changed any of my settings, but my emails are disappearing. What is going on? Please help.

Hi there

WLM retrieves mail from all previous email addresses including a previous hotmail.com address but I recently got a new hotmail.com and it won’t sync it at all – it just says WLM is synchronising this account, please check again in a few minutes…. but nothing
ever changes.

Can you help me with this at all please.  I’m getting very frustrated.

Cheers

I am running WLM 2012 on Windows 8.1. All has been fine, but recently any new mail remaining in the inbox from my POP3 account has been deleted when exiting the program. Any email which has been moved to deleted or junk are retained.

Would be grateful of any thoughts or ideas on this. I have checked all of the obvious options and preferences settings for WLM and the email account.

I am using Windows Live Mail 2010 on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit machine.

1) Is there any benefit in upgrading to Windows Essentials 2012 Mail?

2) Is there any fundamental difference between the two? Do I gain anything?

3) If I install WE2012 Mail, can I safely and reliably import all of my existing mail and contacts?

4) Is the email storage location and format in WE2012 Mail the same as in WLM 2010?

5) Are contacts stored in the same location on the hard drive?

6) It has always been annoying that in WLM when I open a collapsed folder tree, the focus jumps back to the top of the list rather than staying on the folder I just expanded. This generally happens the first time you expand a collapsed folder; but it can
be totally random. When you collapse and expand the folder again, the focus does not change. Does WE2012 Mail behave the same way?

I use Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331) of WLM.  The Blocked Senders page (under Safety Options) refers to a user option to “Delete and block”—yet I cannot find that option anywhere. Can I delete and block with one action? If so, how?

Since December 2013,  Windows Live Mail on several of our machines (both Win 7 HP SP1 and XP; and using different IMAP mailboxes) has stalled with “Your IMAP server has not responded within 60 seconds, …” when receiving into their Inboxes.
When we finally give up and terminate the connection, we get an 0x800C006F.
For those WLM clients with several mailboxes from the same IMAP email provider, typically most Inboxes are fine; only one (or rarely two) ‘jam’.

This isn’t network congestion, because once it has happened, it never recovers. Completely removing all traces of WLM (all registry entries and data files in addition to the usual Win Uninstall) and reinstalling makes no difference whatever.
Neither does installing a different version of WLM (we have tried from V14 [build 14.0,8117.0416] through V15 and V16, although the latest versions don’t of course run under XP).  We have checked the three usual IMAP error culprits (machine date/time wrong,
Hosts file entries and DLL registration). The problem still occurs with anti-virus and firewall software fully disabled and with a direct broadband connection (i.e. direct to the broadband modem, bypassing any router port or other blocking).

We am running out of options!

Some machines get as far as retrieving mail up to a particular date. Others retrieve all headers but only bodies up to a particular date. Still others retrieve all headers but no bodies.

However, each apparently hosed Inbox is readable by webmail and by Outlook 2010 and 2013!

[In passing, WLM is used on those particular machines because they need to share contact lists and calendars via Microsoft ActiveSync so cannot easily use another mail client apart from (chargeable) Outlook, and for other reasons cannot use outlook.com webmail]

Has anyone else experienced this?

Help!?

I’ve been using WLM for approx 18months now with no issues. All of a sudden I’m getting error codes, but only with some mails. Equally, some mails are not getting further than my outbox but with no error code.

I’m receiving emails OK (I think anyway).

Can anyone help…. please??

(ps – I’ve read elsewhere that my ‘server requires authentication’ box should be ticked, it already is. No changes have been made to any settings at all lately. It’s just stopped working)

Hi Folks,

How do I completely uninstall WLM, I tried using RevoUninstaller but it reappeared as if nothing happened when it was re-installed.

I have WLM set to search for mail every 10 minutes but this does not happen.. I have to do this manually by clicking on the send/receive button.

Also the default button under the page where the search time is set is greyed out.

I have just imported my OE6 messages from a PC with Win XP to a new PC with Win 8.1.

I copied the entire OE folder to a thumb drive.  Before importing I changed the folder storage location in WLM.  I then imported the OE folders by the proper procedure in WLM.  I could see all the messages (approx. 2500) being copied across.  However nothing
now shows up in WLM!  Where have they all gone?

I have checked the Windows Live Mail folder in File Explorer (in the new location as changed by me) and there is a file there: “Mail.MSMessageStore” 32.784 MB in size.  That is the only file of any size.
